The protagonist:

Red Stoughton: Red is a young man with pale white skin with black hair, along with red pants, red gloves, black shirt, and a red and white shoe, hat, and jacket. His hat completely obscures his eyes. He is Kit’s adoptive older brother and mostly takes care of his sibling after his college classes. He tends to be more quiet, calm, and serious and take Kit’s mental health very seriously. He lives next door to Blake.

The Stoughton family:

Novella “Nova” Stoughton: Nova is a young woman who has back hair, hazel eyes, and dark tan skin. Nova’s attire reflects her affinity for light academia, featuring a tailored beige cardigan layered over a soft white blouse, paired with high-waisted, pleated trousers in a muted pastel shade. Her ensemble is completed with delicate loafers and a vintage-inspired satchel, while her light pink manicured nails add a touch of femininity, making her the epitome of refined charm. She is Kit’s biological older sister and Red’s adoptive younger sister. Nova tends to be mature, timid, and gentle to people however if provoked or threatened, she can be hostile and a bit psycho. She’s Blake’s girlfriend. She is the top in her classes because of her intelligence, she likes tea but dislikes coffee. She’s biracial (Japanese and Australian). She’s a demi-girl and omnisexual with a preference for men.

Jameson “James” Taylor: James is a tall, lean, dark fair-skinned young man who has dark brown hair with blonde streaks pulled into a ponytail, hazel eyes, and bandages around his arms. He’s Kit’s and Nova’s biological older brother but very abusive towards them after Kit accidentally killed his childhood friend. He mostly wears a black button-up shirt, a velvet vest with silver threads, and tight leather pants. His boots are worn, yet well-kept, and the silver chain attached to his belt loop jingles with each step he takes, a subtle reminder of the bondage that is his preferred fashion statement. James is a man of contrasts, a tapestry of light and dark woven tightly together. His outer shell is cold and unforgiving, a wall built from the bricks of his anger and pain. He is calculating and ruthless, with a mind as sharp as the blade he carries at his side. His heart, though once warm and compassionate, has been frozen over by the bitterness of his past. Yet, beneath this icy veneer, there is a glimmer of the protective older brother he once was, a flicker of emotion that surfaces when he believes Kit is in danger. He disapproves Blake dating Nova because he believes he’ll ‘use her for her body’. James and Blake hate each other. He also disapproves of Ben and Kit dating, believing that Ben is a ‘toxic boyfriend using Kit for drugs.’ Like Nova and Kit, he’s biracial (Japanese and Australian), He’s a homoromantic asexual and is currently in a relationship with Carlos. He’s also Red’s oldest adoptive brother.

Kumori “Kit” Stoughton: Kit Stoughton (Former surname Taylor due to adoption.) is a teenager with medium dark brown hair with dark blonde streaks, dark tan skin, a huge scar over their right eye, heterochromatic eyes, their left eye being a grayish cyan blue and their right eye, a lavender purple, androgynous body type, and fingers and toenails painted black. They wear a black and dark gray slightly oversized sweater with long sleeves hiding their hands, a black chest binder, red ripped jeans, a black choker, A white charm necklace, blue sneakers, and A skull earring in their left ear. They also have small black demon horns due to them being part zalgoid, half-demon and half-human. They’re also Ben’s childhood friend. They tend to be morbid, gloomy, creative, compassionate, and sensitive. They also do drugs and alcohol. Kit is very smart and passes their classes with ease and they’re also a masochist when having sex and they’re dating Ben. Kit is currently in high school. Kit is diagnosed with PTSD, depression, anxiety, anorexia nervosa, Insomnia, Autism, and ADHD. They are also seen with a teddy bear. They were abused physically, mentally, and emotionally abused in their life and sexually at six years old. Kit is also both Japanese and Australian (biracial) and speaks Japanese and English. Steven Stoughton: Steven is a middle-aged man with dark skin wearing a red vest, blue jeans, and a cap. He has long, black, unkempt hair and small stubby hair on his chin. In his appearance, Steven’s eyes are always framed in shadow, while Steven is strangling Mike, a single glowing eye. S!3V3N in this case, appears on both sides. In his dark form, S!3V3N’s entire face is cloaked in black with two piercing red eyes and an unnaturally wide grin, the overabundance of teeth stretching all the way to his ears. Like Red, he also tends to be more quiet, calm, and serious. He lives in a house with his wife, Audrey.

Michael “Mike” Stoughton: Mike is a middle-aged man with fair skin, reddish-brown hair and black eyes. He’s wearing a black shirt, grey sweatpants, and white socks. Mike died due to strangling from Steven, he now appears as a ghost with a noose around his neck and an uncanny, wide smile. He’s the very opposite to Steven, by him being childish, immature, and always having so much energy.

Audrey Stoughton (Born, Audrey Boyman): Audrey Stoughton is a tanned skin woman with ginger hair, green eyes, and a wedding ring around her finger. Audrey’s fashion sense is a delightful homage to the cottagecore aesthetic, characterized by flowing fabrics, floral patterns, and a sense of comfort that is both stylish and practical. She often adorns herself in dresses that evoke a sense of pastoral charm, featuring delicate lace and soft hues that harmonize with her natural surroundings. She normally would be tending her garden, enjoying a cup of tea on a sunlit porch, or sharing laughter with loved ones. Chapter one: The Beginning of the End

The wind howled through Oakdale Heights, a portentous whisper that sent shivers down the spine of those brave enough to venture outside. Red Stoughton sat at his desk, fingers hovering above the keyboard, but his mind was light-years away. The dim glow of his computer screen illuminated the room with an eerie flicker as he pondered Kit’s well-being. Shadows danced across the walls, mirroring the turmoil within him. He had promised their parents he would protect Kit after that fateful day—when innocence was shattered and lives were irrevocably altered. But how could he safeguard them from a brother who had become a monster? A knock broke his reverie; it was Blue Oak, his boyfriend and anchor in this tempestuous sea of chaos. “Hey, Red. Is everything okay?” Blue’s voice was soft yet probing as he stepped inside. Red sighed deeply. “Yeah… just thinking about Kit.” He felt vulnerable under Blue’s gaze but found solace in their connection—a bond forged through understanding rather than words. Blue approached cautiously and placed a hand on Red’s shoulder. “You can’t carry this all alone,” he urged gently. “I know,” Red replied, feeling a warmth seep into him despite the cold reality outside their walls. “But I made a promise.” “Just don’t forget about yourself in all this.” Blue leaned in for a kiss that tasted like hope—a brief escape from the weight pressing down on them both. As they left to grab food, somewhere in another part of town, Nova Stoughton sat at her kitchen table with her tea cooling beside her and anxiety brewing beneath her calm facade. Her phone buzzed against the wood surface; it was Kit wanting to come over. “Of course,” she said softly into the receiver before hanging up. Yet unease gnawed at her—James’ volatility loomed like dark clouds ready to unleash hell upon any unsuspecting soul nearby. Meanwhile, James paced back and forth in his dimly lit room adorned with remnants of forgotten dreams—the silver chain around his waist jingling ominously with each step. He could feel the anger building within him, threatening to spill over and consume everything in its path. But then he saw Carlos, his boyfriend, sleeping peacefully on their bed, and he took a deep breath, trying to quell the rage within. He knew he had to keep it together for Carlos, for their future together. But the memories of his siblings, his family, and his past continued to haunt him, clawing at his sanity. At the same time, Kit made their way to Nova’s apartment, their heart pounding as they approached the door. They had always felt safe with Nova, but the fear of James’ wrath lingered in the back of their mind. Nova opened the door with a smile, enveloping Kit in a hug. “Come in, darling. You’re safe here.” And for a moment, Kit believed her. But then the nightmares of their past came flooding back, and they knew that no place was truly safe. As they settled in, they heard a commotion outside. Red and Blue had arrived, and they could hear their voices mingling with Nova’s. But then, a loud crash and a scream shattered the peaceful night. All at once, the chaos that had been brewing in their lives exploded into their reality. James had found out about Nova and Blake’s relationship and had come to confront them, unleashing his pent-up rage. But amidst the shouting and the crashing, Kit saw something that made their blood run cold—James’ hand around Blake’s throat, squeezing with all his might. Without a second thought, Kit ran to protect their friend, their brother. They knew the consequences of their actions, but they couldn’t let James hurt anyone else. The last thing they remembered was the sound of a gunshot before everything went black. As the dust settled and the chaos subsided, the Stoughton family was forever changed. Red, Blue, Nova, and Kit were all rushed to the hospital with various injuries, but they were alive. James was arrested for attempted murder, and Carlos was left to pick up the pieces of his shattered life. And as the sun rose on a new day, the Stoughton family was left to pick up the pieces of their broken family, wondering if they would ever truly heal from the wounds of their past. Little did they know, this was only the beginning of a long and tumultuous journey that would test their bonds, their strength, and their very sanity.

Chapter Two: Father-son argument

Red sat in the waiting room of the hospital, his leg bandaged and his arm in a sling. He could feel the dull ache of his injuries, but it was nothing compared to the pain in his heart. His family was falling apart, and he didn’t know how to fix it. He glanced at his phone, hoping for a text from Blue or Nova, but there was nothing. They were probably still in surgery, and he couldn’t blame them for not wanting to talk to him. After all, he was the reason they were in this mess in the first place. He sighed and closed his eyes, trying to push away the guilt and the fear that threatened to consume him. But then, he heard a commotion outside, and his eyes snapped open. He saw James, his adoptive brother, being escorted by police officers, his face twisted with anger and hatred. Red’s blood ran cold as he realized that James was being released on bail. He knew that James would come after them again, and this time, he might succeed in killing someone. He had to warn his family. He got up and hobbled towards the exit, determined to protect his loved ones. But before he could leave, he saw Steven, his adoptive father, walking towards him with a stern look on his face. “Red, what are you doing?” Steven’s voice was cold and accusatory. “I need to warn Nova and Kit. James is out on bail, and he’s going to come after them again,” Red replied, trying to push past his father. But Steven grabbed his arm, his grip tight and unrelenting. “You’re not going anywhere. You’ve caused enough trouble for this family. We don’t need you making things worse,” Steven spat, his voice dripping with disdain. Red’s heart sank at his father’s words. He knew he had messed up, but he was trying to make things right. “But, Dad, I have to warn them. James is dangerous. He could kill them,” Red pleaded, tears threatening to spill from his eyes. But Steven remained unmoved. “I don’t care. You’ve caused enough pain and suffering for this family. I won’t let you hurt us anymore,” he said, his voice cold and unfeeling. Red was speechless. He couldn’t believe his own father was turning his back on him when he needed him the most. He felt a surge of anger and hurt, but he knew he couldn’t fight back. He was injured and weak, and Steven was much stronger than him. Defeated, he let out a sob and collapsed to the floor, his heart shattered into a million pieces. Steven looked down at him, his expression unreadable. And then, he turned and walked away, leaving Red alone in the waiting room, broken and alone. As Red sat there, his tears staining his cheeks, he couldn’t help but wonder if his family would ever be whole

Class of 2024 (Red on the Flipside)

Chapter One: The Beginning of the End

The wind howled through Oakdale Heights, a chilling portent of the storm brewing within the Stoughton family. Red Stoughton, pale as a ghost with black hair peeking from under his red cap, sat at his desk, fingers hovering over the keyboard, his mind a tempestuous sea. He had promised their parents he would protect Kit, his adoptive sibling, after that fateful day when their innocence was shattered. But how could he shield them from James, their biological brother, a man consumed by rage and vengeance?

A knock on the door brought Red back to the present. It was Blue Oak, his boyfriend and anchor, a warm presence in their otherwise chaotic world. “Hey, Red. Is everything okay?” Blue’s voice was gentle, laced with concern. Red sighed, unable to hide his worry. “Yeah… just thinking about Kit.” Blue’s eyes, honey-brown and understanding, met his. “You can’t carry this all alone,” he said softly, placing a comforting hand on Red’s shoulder. “I know,” Red admitted, finding solace in Blue’s presence. “But I made a promise.” “Just don’t forget about yourself in all this,” Blue urged, leaning in for a kiss that tasted of hope. It was a brief respite from the darkness that shadowed them.

Meanwhile, across town, Nova Stoughton, Kit’s biological sister, sat at her kitchen table, her light academia attire contrasting sharply with the turmoil within her. Her phone buzzed, a message from Kit requesting to come over. “Of course,” Nova replied, her voice gentle, yet a tremor of unease ran through her. James, her volatile brother, haunted her thoughts. She knew his anger could erupt at any moment, a destructive force she couldn’t control.

James, a man of simmering rage, paced his dimly lit room. The silver chain on his belt clinked with each step, a rhythmic counterpoint to the storm brewing within him. He knew he needed to keep it together for Carlos, his boyfriend, but the memories of his past, the pain and resentment, threatened to consume him.

Kit, their skin dark with a touch of purple, their hair a mix of dark brown and blonde streaks, walked towards Nova’s apartment, their heart pounding with anxiety. They craved the safety of Nova’s embrace, yet the shadow of James’ wrath loomed large. Nova welcomed them with a warm smile, pulling them into a hug. “Come in, darling. You’re safe here.” For a moment, Kit believed her. But the memories of abuse, of shattered trust, surfaced, reminding them that true safety was elusive.

As Kit settled in, a loud crash and a scream shattered the peaceful night. Red and Blue, having arrived to check on Nova, witnessed the horrifying scene unfold. James, fueled by rage, had found out about Nova and Blake’s relationship and had confronted them with a violence that chilled their blood. He had Blake by the throat, his grip tightening with every second. Kit, their body flooded with a primal instinct to protect their friend, charged forward. The consequences of their actions were irrelevant. They couldn’t allow James to hurt anyone else. The last thing Kit remembered was the deafening sound of a gunshot before everything went black.

Chapter Two: Father-son Argument

Red lay in the hospital bed, his leg bandaged, his arm in a sling. The physical pain was a dull ache compared to the anguish that gnawed at his soul. His family was splintering, and he felt helpless to stop it. He checked his phone, hoping for a text from Blue or Nova, but it remained silent. They were probably still in surgery, and he couldn’t blame them for needing space from him. After all, he was the one who had sparked this destructive chain of events.

He closed his eyes, trying to suppress the guilt and fear that threatened to drown him. Then, a commotion outside shattered the quiet. It was James, escorted by police officers, his face twisted with resentment. Red’s blood ran cold as he realized James was being released on bail. The danger wasn’t over. James would come after them again. He had to warn his family.

As Red tried to hobble towards the exit, a strong hand clamped down on his arm. Steven, his adoptive father, stood before him, his face etched with disapproval. “Red, what are you doing? You’ve caused enough trouble for this family. We don’t need you making things worse,” Steven said, his voice cold and harsh.

Red’s heart sank. “Dad, I have to warn them. James is dangerous. He could kill them!” he pleaded, his voice breaking with emotion. But Steven remained unmoved. “I don’t care. You’ve caused enough pain and suffering. I won’t let you hurt us anymore,” he said, his words laced with bitterness.

Red was speechless. His own father was turning his back on him when he needed him the most. Anger and hurt surged through him, but he was weak, injured. He couldn’t fight back. Defeated, he let out a choked sob and collapsed to the floor. Steven watched him, his face unreadable, before turning and walking away.

Red was alone, shattered. He wondered if his family would ever be whole again.
