Building on its legacy of bold muscle cars, Ford is introducing a modern, all-American sedan concept that combines “Built Ford Tough” attitude with the sporty elegance of its iconic 1960s sedans. The Ford Interceptor concept comes equipped with a manual six-speed gearbox mated to a Ford Racing 5.0-liter V-8 Cammer engine that delivers 400 horsepower and runs on E-85 ethanol.

The Ford Interceptor concept’s exterior design features substantial, sometimes brutish, surfaces and sections that give the concept its modern, powerful look. The Mustang-based concept features a traditional rear-wheel drive proportion that includes a short front overhang, long rear overhang and extended dash-to-axle ratio. The Ford Interceptor also has a low cabin and higher beltline, adding to the vehicle’s attitude and sense of mystery.

Painted a deep blue, the Ford Interceptor concept’s strength exudes from its strong, high shoulders. And much like on last year’s Ford F-250 Super Chief pickup concept, a single character line runs the length of the body side, slightly sloping downward as it reaches the back of the sedan. This adds wedge to the car, making it dynamic, without detracting from its smooth, clean design. Signature Ford touches include the horizontal three-bar grille, which has been structurally integrated into the bumper beam, as well as “squircles” – or professionally square circle-shaped graphics – inside and out.

As a nod to performance purists, the ultimate muscle lies under the powered clamshell “shaker” hood, which caps a thoroughly detailed engine compartment that houses a 5.0-liter V-8 Cammer engine. This is an upgraded variant of the 4.6-liter engine under the hood of the current production Mustang GT. The Cammer modular engine powered Ford Racing’s FR500C race car to the top of the Grand Am Cup’s GS class, achieving five victories on its way to the Drivers, Manufacturers and Team Championships in its first season of competition. The Interceptor concept’s Cammer engine is mated to a manual six-speed transmission. The car, equipped with 22-inch wheels, also features a solid rear axle for more hard-core performance feel.

Inside, the Ford Interceptor concept is sleek and thoroughly modern, completed in contrasting black leather and metal finishes. The dash, headliner and thick steering wheel are leather-wrapped. Plus, the Interceptor concept’s four low-back bucket seats are wrapped in thick black belt leather with exposed-edge seams and contrasting caramel stitching. The seats are accented with Ford GT-inspired squircle grommets finished with Titan Metal painted inserts. Squircle accents are repeated in the concept’s door trims, floor, console and instrument panel. Designed within a pair of squircles, the speedometer and tachometer are eye-catching. The needles for both start at center and move opposite each other as the speed and RPM climb. Other clever touches include retractable headrests that deploy from the roof when the car is parked. They adjust fore and aft, as well as up and down for each occupant. Audio control panel and climate controls also are stowable. On the other hand, the gated six-speed shifter is exposed, just waiting to be thrown into gear.

For safety, the Interceptor concept incorporates Ford’s patented four-point “belt and suspenders” safety belt design in all four seats and inflatable seat belts in the rear. While current three-point safety belts are extremely effective in reducing the risk of injury in a crash, Ford Motor Company is researching these two potential safety belt technologies as possible ways to further reduce injury risk in vehicle crashes. A number of technical challenges still need to be overcome before such restraint systems could ever be used, but these technologies might one day further enhance safety belt effectiveness. The four-point belt showcases a possible next-generation safety belt that is more comfortable and easier to use than traditional three-point belts, according to consumer research. Additionally, inflatable belts have been included in the rear seat of the concept to help better protect occupants in a variety of crashes.

Character Profile: The Interceptor

Name: (To be determined)

Age: 22

Appearance:

  • Build: Lean and wiry, but with hard-earned muscle. He’s built for explosive bursts of power rather than sustained strength, and it shows in the way he moves. He wears his power like a second skin, radiating a silent, almost animalistic confidence.
  • Hair: Short, cropped close to his scalp, the dark brown strands are often slicked back with gel, giving him a sharp, almost predatory look.
  • Eyes: Piercing blue eyes that seem to see right through you, almost a bit unsettling. They hold a flicker of defiance, a restless energy that speaks of a mind constantly calculating and assessing.
  • Scars: A jagged scar runs across his left cheekbone, a testament to a past fight he doesn’t talk about. There are other, smaller scars scattered over his body, all stories etched in his flesh.
  • Attire:
    • Work Uniform: A worn-out, faded blue police uniform that clings to his physique, with a name tag that reads “Officer (last name)”. The badge on his chest is a faded silver, but it holds a strange weight, almost like a mask he wears.
    • Off-Duty Casual: A muscle tee, usually black or dark grey, with the sleeves ripped off, paired with ripped jeans or cargo pants. He often wears worn-out combat boots, the leather scuffed and the soles nearly worn through.
    • Shirtless: A testament to his confidence, he doesn’t shy away from being bare-chested. His scars become more prominent, a map of his past etched onto his skin. This attire is reserved for moments of pure aggression, or when he needs to feel the wind against his skin.
    • The “Brawler”: A black leather jacket, worn with a dark hoodie beneath it, giving him a menacing aura. The jacket is adorned with biker patches and the occasional pin, showcasing his rebellious streak.
    • The “Confrontation”: A clean, white dress shirt with the top button undone, paired with dark-wash jeans and sleek leather boots. He wears this when he needs to appear “professional” or “in control”, a façade he can effortlessly slip in and out of.
    • The “Hunter”: A dark green tactical vest, loaded down with gear and weapons, paired with cargo pants and heavy boots. This attire transforms him into a predator, ready to strike at any moment.
    • The “Disguise”: A simple, gray t-shirt, a baseball cap pulled low over his eyes, and worn-out jeans. He blends in with the shadows, a ghost in the crowd, ready to disappear at any moment.

Personality:

  • Attitude: A volatile mix of bravado, cynicism, and barely suppressed rage. He wears his tough exterior like armor, refusing to let anyone see the scars that lie beneath.
  • Traits:
    • Ruthless: He doesn’t hesitate to take action, often resorting to violence when words fail. He believes in getting the job done, no matter the cost.
    • Intimidating: His presence is commanding, his eyes watchful. He can make people feel small, even those who think they’re hardened.
    • Unpredictable: You never know what he’s going to do next. One moment he’s a brooding loner, the next he’s a whirlwind of action, leaving a trail of chaos in his wake.
    • Misanthrope: He doesn’t trust people, he distrusts authority, and he sees the world as a cruel, unforgiving place.
    • Complex: Beneath the gruff exterior lies a conflicted soul, torn between a yearning for redemption and a burning desire to dismantle the very system he is sworn to uphold.

History:

  • Childhood: (To be determined) – Born and raised in a rough part of the city, he witnessed violence from a young age. He was bullied, learned to fight back, and saw the world through a lens of survival.
  • Defining Moments:
    1. The Brawl: He was only 14 when he saw his father beaten to a pulp by a group of men in the alleyway. His father, a drunkard, was barely recognizable. It ignited a rage in him that he wouldn’t be able to control. He fought back, using the raw fury of a boy losing everything to defend his father.
    2. The Betrayal: He was 16 when he saw his best friend get arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. The officer who arrested him, a man known for his brutality, winked at him, a cruel smirk playing on his lips. It was the first time he felt a sense of betrayal, a disillusionment with the system he had naively believed in.
    3. The Turning Point: He was 18 when he witnessed a cop planting evidence on a suspect. He confronted the officer, but was beaten and left for dead. It was a turning point. He realized the very institution he wanted to serve was rotten to its core.
    4. The Oath: He joined the police force, but not out of a sense of duty. He saw it as a path to power, a way to operate within the system to seek vengeance for the injustices he had witnessed.
    5. The First Kill: He was on patrol, chasing a suspect. It was a routine stop, but the suspect had a weapon. In the heat of the moment, he fired his gun, taking a life. The adrenaline rush faded, leaving him with a cold realization of what he had done.
    6. The Confession: He had a reputation as a “hard-nosed” cop, but his internal conflict was beginning to manifest. He confessed to his partner that he killed the suspect, but he didn’t show any remorse. Instead, he felt a strange sense of accomplishment.
    7. The Repercussions: His confession landed him in hot water. He was suspended, investigated, and threatened with expulsion. He was told he was a danger to himself and the public, a “loose cannon”. But he was not deterred. He continued to operate on the edge, his sense of justice warped by the darkness he had embraced.
    8. The Shadow: He learned to operate in the shadows, becoming a whisper in the dark alleys, a rogue agent of chaos within the system. He built a network of informants and allies, forming an underground organization of his own.
    9. The Test: His true loyalties were tested when he was assigned to investigate a major criminal conspiracy. The investigation led him to a powerful figure, someone with ties to the highest levels of the police force. He had to choose: Uphold the law, or expose the corruption that had become his lifeblood.
    10. The Betrayal: (To be determined) – He faced a betrayal from someone he trusted, someone close to him. It shook him to his core, shattering the little faith he had left in humanity.

Arc:

The Interceptor’s arc is a journey of self-discovery, a struggle between the person he wants to be and the monster he’s becoming. He starts out as a rogue cop, driven by a need for justice and a thirst for revenge. But as he descends deeper into the underworld, he becomes increasingly hardened, blurring the lines between right and wrong. He eventually realizes that his actions have consequences, and that the only way to find redemption is to confront his inner demons.

Note: This is just a starting point. You can develop his backstory further, adding more defining moments, and fleshing out his relationships. The most important thing is to keep the Interceptor’s character complex and ever-evolving, a man caught in a constant battle with himself.
