Smiling Critters: Episode 1 – Can’t Sleep
[FADE IN]
INT. SMILING CRITTERS HOME – NIGHT
A cozy, brightly-colored treehouse with multiple levels and windows overlooking a whimsical forest. DogDay (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) paces excitedly, bouncing his orange tail. He wears a sun medal around his neck.
DOGDAY: (energetic) Come on, guys! It’s bedtime! It’s the perfect night for a super awesome dream!
Catnap (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) yawns widely, his purple fur fluffing up. He wears a cat medal around his neck.
CATNAP: (sleepy) But DogDay, I’m sooo sleepy!
KickinChicken (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) struts around, his yellow feathers ruffled. He wears a star medal around his neck.
KICKINCHICKEN: (cool) Yeah, I’m ready for some serious shut-eye! My wings are tired from all that flying around today!
Bubba Bubbaphant (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) looks up from a stack of books, his blue trunk wiggling. He wears a lightbulb medal around his neck.
BUBBA BUBBAPHANT: (thoughtful) Actually, I’m quite intrigued by this new book about constellations. I’d like to stay up a little longer and…
Bobby Bearhug (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) smiles warmly, her red fur glowing in the moonlight. She wears a heart medal around her neck.
BOBBY BEARHUG: (sweet) Bubba, you know we need to get enough rest. We’ll have a fun day tomorrow!
CraftyCorn (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) hides behind a curtain, her white mane shimmering. She wears a rainbow flower medal around her neck.
CRAFTYCORN: (shy) I… I can’t sleep. I’m too excited for tomorrow’s picnic!
PickyPiggy (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) sniffs the air, her pink snout twitching. She wears an apple medal around her neck.
PICKYPIGGY: (hungry) I’m not tired. I’m hungry! Can we have a snack before bed?
Hoppy Hopscotch (voiced by [Insert Voice Actor Name]) bounces on her hind legs, her green fur glowing in the moonlight. She wears a yellow thunder medal around her neck.
HOPPY HOPSCOTCH: (energetic) I’m not tired! Let’s play hide-and-seek!
DogDay sighs, his tail drooping.
DOGDAY: (frustrated) But guys! We have to sleep! It’s bedtime!
[SOUND of a gentle chime]
The room suddenly darkens, and a twinkling star appears above their heads.
DOGDAY: (surprised) What was that?
[A magical voice, soothing and kind, fills the room]
VOICE: Sleepy time, little friends. Close your eyes and let your dreams take flight.
[The star begins to spin, its light casting magical shadows on the critters]
DOGDAY: (whispering) It’s… it’s the Dream Star!
[One by one, the critters snuggle into their beds, their eyelids drooping]
CATNAP: (sleepy) Zzz…
KICKINCHICKEN: (drowsy) Sweet dreams…
BUBBA BUBBAPHANT: (softly) Goodnight…
BOBBY BEARHUG: (whispering) I love you all…
CRAFTYCORN: (sleepy) I’ll see you tomorrow…
PICKYPIGGY: (snoring) Mmm…
HOPPY HOPSCOTCH: (yawning) I’ll be dreaming of racing…
[DogDay, the last one awake, looks up at the star with a smile]
DOGDAY: (softly) Goodnight, everyone. Sweet dreams.
[The star twinkles brighter, its light fading as the room slowly returns to its normal state. DogDay curls up in his bed, a peaceful smile on his face. The critters all sleep soundly, dreaming of the adventures to come. ]
[FADE OUT]
