The People’s Republic of Dimeneria is a fledgling, safe nation, remarkable for its state-planned economy, compulsory military service, and devotion to social welfare. The quiet, industrious population of 5 million Dimenerians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The large, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Welfare, and Law & Order. The average income tax rate is 67.4%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The basket case Dimenerian economy, worth 82.2 billion lire a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is fairly diversified, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Beef-Based Agriculture, Book Publishing, and Information Technology. Average income is 16,434 lire, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Organ donation is compulsory, military spending recently hit a new high, and epidemiologists happily announce that the reported incidence of depression is close to zero percent. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Dimeneria’s national animal is the crocodile, which frolics freely in the nation’s sparkling oceans. And thares corruption everywhere and even the buildings are made out of cheap material
